Transmission of Nature

This body of work renders inspiration from influential positive personal experiences, such as travelling and being in nature. In an increasingly murky world, my intent is to provide a vibrant outlet of escape from the weight of everyday. I feel that nature helps unite us in a positive way, which is why I gravitate towards creating pieces based on and inspired by nature.

Shocked Chickens

I aim to create artwork that engages with the viewer, gives them pause, and elicits questions – either about content or process. Expressing the substance of light in my works is an endless challenge / delight. Particularly within still lifes, I love to examine the contrast of light and shadows. This exhibition also features my recent series of sculpted chickens, look closely to see these tales of shock and horror they’re reading.

In this collection I explore interconnection, circumstance, and the consequential effects.

Through my art practice I express my lived experiences with chemical sensitivities, broaching the industrial influences of commercialism against nature. Additionally, I explore the link between us and our world, the tensions between each other, the focus between photographer and the subject, how moments affect reality and perception, and the intersections between these relationships.

All works are conducted in a petrochemical allergy influenced, materially limited, and chemically mindful manner, pulling towards primarily photography based art, while still exploring other materials such as clay, glass, and fabric.

Forest Majesty

I began focusing on my art practice during retirement. Initially using oil paints, I have since branched into acrylics and watercolours. My inspiration has always been nature. I love all living things and have even been known to rescue a fly and release it! Along with animals, I have also began painting landscapes. Have you noticed the little birds in the sky in my paintings? A tribute to my bird name! I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy creating them!
