About Us.

Proudly rooted in the heart of Riding Mountain National Park, Wasagaming Community Arts has served the community since 1970 as an incorporated not-for-profit arts centre and gallery. We are dedicated to celebrating art, creativity, and connection — offering a welcoming space where artists and audiences come together to learn, engage, and be inspired.

  • Our Gallery Space is open from May until September, but we remain active year round.

Our Mission

To foster an inclusive, welcoming environment where art and community thrive, we aim to uphold six core values:

  • We recognize the diversity of Canadian peoples and actively cultivate relationships with artists and visitors from many backgrounds.

  • We inspire engagement with the creative processes — as makers, viewers, and lifelong learners.

  • We provide inclusive, welcoming spaces where everyone can experience and create art.

  • We are grateful to be in such a beautiful national park. We are committed to using our resources thoughtfully, with future generations and the natural environment in mind.

  • We deepen cultural understanding through programs, exhibitions, and partnerships that bring people together.

Our Commitments

Honouring the Land and its People

At Wasagaming Community Arts, we are grateful to be located on Treaty 2 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe and other First Nations peoples connected to Treaties 1, 2, and 4. This includes the Keeseekoowenin Ojibway First Nation, Ebb and Flow First Nation, Waywayseecappo First Nation, Rolling River First Nation, Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve, Gambler First Nation, and Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.

The name “Wasagaming” comes from the Cree word meaning clear water, reflecting the deep connection between the land, water and stewardship.

We recognize and honour the enduring contributions of Indigenous communities to Riding Mountain National Park, to Manitoba, and to Canada. With humility and gratitude, we commit to treating the land—and all who live and gather here—with care, respect, and responsibility.

Rejoice in the diversity and vitality of colour — whether it be people, nature, art, or design.

Creating an Inclusive & Equitable Arts Space

WCA is a volunteer-led organization that actively supports equity, diversity and inclusion. We believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us, and are committed to helping make the arts and cultural sector a more equitable environment.

For more than 50 years, we have championed opportunities for artists at every stage of their creative journey—from emerging talents to seasoned professionals. We are proud to offer a safe and supportive environment where people can create, learn, and grow. Our gallery and studio spaces have long served as places of mentorship, experimentation, and collaboration, guided by the belief that art is for everyone.

We welcome, encourage and accept people from all communities, people with disabilities and people from the 2SLGBTQ+ communities. We are committed to helping build a more just and representative arts and cultural sector.
